Zilvinas Kempinas: Slow Motion

Zilvinas Kempinas is a New York based Lithuanian artist whose works are kinetic and minimalistic at the same time. He uses the simplest of means to create complex and atmospheric spatial situations of great beauty. Installations playing with air and lightness are part of his oeuvre as well as reliefs that are based on time and chance. At the Museum Tinguely, Kempinas was given „carte blanche“ for his biggest solo exhibition so far, spreading on around 1500 square meters across four exhibition floors. The presentation includes works displayed in separate rooms as well as positions in dialogue with works by Jean Tinguely.

Die Werke Zilvinas Kempinas, der aus Litauen stammt und nun in New York lebt, sind ebenso minimalistisch wie kinetisch. Mit einfachsten Mitteln schafft er komplexe und atmosphärische Raumsituationen von hoher Ästhetik, seine Installationen spielen mit Luft und Leichtigkeit, seine Reliefs mit Zeit und Zufall. Im Museum Tinguely erhielt er für seine bisher grösste Einzelausstellung «carte blanche». Auf rund 1500 m2 zeigt er seine Kunst teil in eigenen Räumen, teils im Dialog mit Werken Tinguelys.
