Join us for the 16th edition of Design Miami/ Basel, curated by incoming Curatorial Director, Maria Cristina Didero. 34 of the world’s leading historic and contemporary galleries are coming as Gallery Exhibitors, and additional 17 galleries in the Curio program focus on explorations of cutting edge design thinking.

For the first time in Basel, Design Miami/ will introduce the Podium exhibition concept with 20 exhibitors – a curated selling exhibition of museum-quality works curated by Maria Cristina Didero in line with this year’s overarching curatorial theme, The Golden Age.

The Golden Age is a metaphorical concept shared across cultures through time and space, whether applied to utopian futures or idealized histories. Often invoked as an imaginary, past time of prosperity, The Golden Age also epitomizes hope for the future, lighting the path towards our highest aspirations. In a time when human beings are challenged in unprecedented ways, The Golden Age could become a source of inspiration to imagine a brighter future for human beings and our planet.

The Design Miami/ Basel Podium exhibition discovers the expression of this imaginative power through a curation of several historic and contemporary works. This Podium exhibition is the result of a truly collaborative process with a celebrated group of international galleries and designers. We worked as one to present unique interpretations of the sought-after ‘Golden Age’ thematic which, taken together, express our personal reflections on a more promising future and the collective force of dreams.

This year’s Special Project Satellites include presentations by The Art and Culture Development Foundation of the Republic of Uzbekistan ACDF, Galleria Antonella Villanova, Joseph Walsh Studio, and V Over M digital. Design Miami/ Basel’s Special Project Satellites program showcases historical and contemporary installations that explore the ever-expanding possibilities within the design discipline. The Special Project Satellites program is intended to be a site of discovery, presenting a themed arrangement of works inspired by events and topics in the design world today.
