a collaborative installation

10. Juni – 4. August 2018

Hebel_121 is presenting a collaborative installation by Kate Shepherd und Daniel Göttin. For Kate Shepherd it is the second exhibition at Hebel_121 after almost 20 years. For Daniel Göttin it is the first collaboration with Kate Shepherd having know her and her work over 20 years.

On view in the front space is a new installative work executed by both artists after a long conceptual discourse. Familiar from Shepherd’s earlier wallpainting at Hebel_121 is the industrial enamel with a glossy, mirror-like finish that registers and reflects the space around. Shepherd takes the paintings off the wall, moves them around her studio and photographs the reflections that appear on them. She then uses these photographs to make large-format silkscreens and, with enamel inks, renders permanently a fleeting reflection onto the surface on which it first appeared. In this way, the hazy white images conspire to suggest architectonic forms in perspectival space.

Daniel Göttin is known for his interventions in space drawing lines with tapes, changing architecture, and sites with minimal interventions into new entities.

At Hebel_121, both artists are transforming the art of looking into the art of seeing and perceiving.
