Swiss Design Awards 2021

SWISS DESIGN COMPETITION
Swiss designers are eligible to take part in the Swiss Design Competition. The jury is made up of seven members of the Federal Design Commission, selected by the Federal Council as well as invited experts. The jury assesses the submitted dossiers as part of the first stage and agree upon a selection for the second round. The exhibited works are judged in the second round and the awards are decided upon. Some 17 prizes are awarded each year. Each award is worth CHF 25,000.

EXHIBITION SWISS DESIGN AWARDS
Since 2002, the Federal Office of Culture holds an exhibition that presents the award-winning works of the Swiss Design Competition. Since 2013, this exhibition is presented in Basel.
The exhibition Swiss Design Awards, taking place parallel to Art Basel Fair and Design Miami/Basel, presents works and projects by the finalists and winners of the Swiss Design Competition. Since 2018 the exhibition also shows works by the Swiss Grand Award for Design winners.
The Swiss Design Awards exhibition intends to present the creative process of Swiss design by exhibiting the works of designers to an interested audience. In order to stimulate debate, the works and projects are not simply presented and documented but also put in a wider context.
